An attempt has been made to list some of the resources available to HD families and caregivers. It is by no means complete, and we encourage you to work with a social worker and an occupational therapist to explore all avenues of help. Many government and community resources may vary from year to year depending on funding and changing eligibility requirements, so don’t assume because at one time an agency could not offer help that they will never be able to offer help. Sometimes getting help with something can be as simple as using old-fashioned kitchen-table logic.
Supplemental drinks too expensive? Buy Carnation’s Instant Breakfast. Need help with your lawn? Ask your church if their lawn crew is available. Make a list. When someone asks if they can help, show them your list and let them decide what they want to do. Often times they may know someone else who can help with other items on your list.
