Emory has had an HD clinic for many years and in 1997 was selected by HDSA as the first Center of Excellence for Huntington’s Disease in the United States.
Services include neurological evaluations, presymptomatic genetic counseling and testing, social services, nursing follow up and medical management, community education (nursing home in-services, talks to civic groups, health fairs), education of families either in person, by phone or mail.

Support Group:
Meets on the second Saturday at 11:57 a.m. at the Wesley Woods Health Center in the 3rd floor conference room. It is for HD persons, HD families and caregivers.

Established in 2004 by Dr. John Morgan who was affiliated with the HDSA Center of Excellence in Virginia. Services include neurological evaluations, genetic counseling and testing, psychological evaluation, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and nursing follow-up.

The clinic was established in 1989 and is active in HD research. Services include neurological evaluations, presymptomatic genetic counseling and testing, psychiatry, family education and counseling, and speech pathology.

Support Group:
The group meets quarterly. Call 803-898-2344 for information.

Nursing Home Unit:
They have a 15-bed nursing home unit for individuals with Huntington’s Disease within the Department of Mental Health. Currently it has a waiting list, and is available primarily for South Carolina residents and their relatives. All of the staff has been trained to work with HD persons and receive monthly education updates.
